I am Irish Architect, Urban Planer, Permaculture Designer and Ecologist, former Professor of Urban Design and Infrastructure at the Architectural Department of the Technical University of Berlin, Germany. I am founding member of the Permaculture Insitute of Europe. Then, Country Co-ordinator for Germany of the Global Action Plan for the Earth (GAP) - Household Ecoteam Programme; Founding Chairman of the Board of GEN Global Eco-Village Network and ran the GEN- Europe secretariat in the ecological community LEBENSGARTEN STEYERBERG, Lower Saxony, Germany in which I live for the last 21 years.

With my wife, Prof. Dr. Margrit Kennedy, I had an architectural and planning office in Hanover and Steyerberg. Our latest book on that subject is on “Designing Ecological Settlements”, published in German in 1998 and in English in 1997 (Dietrich Reimers Verlag,Berlin).
